A day later than expected, NASCAR announced the penalties against Carl Edwards and the #99 Roush Fenway team after Edward's car failed post race inspection. The oil reserve lid was found to be "off" during the post race inspection, which led NASCAR to impound the car to further inspect it for the rules violation.
